View Full Version : nokia 3410
i have just got a 3410 off ebay, but when i put my sim card in there is no signal, cant phone in or out,the battery signal is there, could somebody please tell me the problem....thanks csw
maybe the phone is barred or not unlocked for your sim card?
did the seller state that the phone was unlocked?
wasnt mentioned, is ther anyway of checking to see if it is locked, and how do you unlock.... cheers csw
thinking about it if it was locked and you put in the wrong sim it would probably come up with an error message along the lines of sim card not accepted or insert correct sim.
Hopeim wrong but it sounds like a problem with the phone or that the phone is barred, not sure how to check up on this tho. Best ask Daedalus........sorry to be not much help.
Did the seller have good feedback? or leave a number so you can contact him?

i'd say it's either locked, blocked or just plain buggered.
locked means it's locked to a particular network. All ebay sellers should state if it's locked or not, and to which network.
blocked means they've put the PUK or Security code in wrong 10 times, meaning the phone is permanently blocked.
and plain buggered, well i'd hope thats self explainitary :)
if it's been blocked, barred, blacklisted, whatever. (reported lost or stolen basically) then it will briefly flash up a signal, then display 'sim card registration failed'
the term 'locked' generally refers to the service provider lock, and as a result of the network placing a restriction on the handset to allow it only to take it's own sim cards.
if the sim card's blocked, it will say 'enter PUK code' on the screen.
or, like daedalus points out, it could be just good, old fashioned knackered.
what about the call divert?

no, i don't reckon that'd apply. Call divert is where you can choose a number to divert calls to when your busy, the phone is turned off, if your out of network coverage or for all calls. Most phones are set up to divert to the voicemail under most of those headings.
ahh thanks for the correction, sorry :)

If a phone is blacklisted. Wouldn't entering a code work? Can't one be able to connect it to a computer and use a software to unlock it?

Blacklisting is a different thing to the sim lock shassan, it's where if a phone has been stolen and the user has reported it to the police, all the networks put that IMEI number (the phones serial number) on a blacklist, so it can never be used again on any network. So unlocking would'nt help it anyway. There ARE ways of getting it off the blacklist, but it's very much illegal and pretty messy, so I would'nt bother with it.
