Z600 is a good phone, but is she's a teenager, that only wants to have a cool phone and polytones for a low price, she would be better off with the Z200
Z200: polytones (40!!!!), 4096 color screen, one of the best designed phones ever, changeble covers (always nice for girls) and alot cool background pics.
believe me MR goofy let her see the phone on the SE site
http://www.sonyericsson.com/z200/
but for this lovely phone she'll have to wait untill november price would be +-200euro (sorry i don't know where you from so i choose euro as currency)
greez bart

ok guys, calm down, the Z200 and Z600 are'nt in the high street stores over here yet, and prolly wont be by christmas, so it won't be either of them
Shame it has to be a flip, theres several new and pretty good colour camera phone out now that are cheap (the Siemens MC60 with 4096 colour screen and built in camera is only £99.99 on T-Mobile!).
The problem is there are very few colour flip phones around that are cheap. Theres the Motorola T720i, but thats worse than buying her a heap of dung for christmas...
The A800 is good, but no colour screen.
Try and talk to her (without making it obvious thats what your going to get her for christmas) and see if she likes some of the standard non-flip phones, like the Siemens MC60, Motorola C350 (which is ok, not great, but ok) or Nokia 3100 (bunnyone can vouch for that as being a good present for kids :) ).
I'd say the one she'd prolly like the most out of all of them if the Nokia 3100. If in doubt, show her the pink cover you can get for it, or even the blue one. Or maybe even take her to see one in 'action' with the light-up features when it rings at your nearest shop.
We've had parents coming into the store with their kids choosing a phone that they like, buying it and then saying they can't have it until christmas. So yes its not much of a suprise on the day, but at least you know she'll have what she wants.
thanks guys, well the Z200 looks lovely im sure shed love it, i know i would.
i have taken on board what your saying Daedalus, and i will see how i can find out which she likes but i know once i start asking she'll know shes getting one.........lol
one question tho had a look at the 3100 on the website and i didnt see anything about polytones , does it have them?
thanks again guys and Daedalus your such a great help :big grin:
yes it does have polyphonics goofy.
4tone polyfonic isn't that good believe me
and the phone doesn't support FULLMMS
and whats this about the Z200 and Z600 not being in most stores by X-mas. believe me it will be out, Z600 will hit the stores within 2 weeks.
its her choice but keep in mind that if you buy a phone, you should go for feautues full MMS and so, or desing and polytones for the teenagers
i personally would not encourage my daughter to use MMS much because of the cost lol

i don't know how you think teenagers think bart, but most of them over here are'nt interested in MMS in the slightest. Most of them don't even know what it means. About 70% of the people I know who are teenagers own an MMS phone, 'full' or not, and about only 3 of them have ever used MMS, so i don't think that'll be of any importance.
And most teenagers i know with Nokia 4-tone phones are happy with it. Not everyone is as much as a perfectionist as you....
We're talking about a teenage girl who just wants her phone to looks nice with some poly tones and a colour screen, it does'nt have to be the absoloute best phone in the world.

Having a teenage girl i must agree with the above, and not only that i wouldnt pay £200 odd pounds at the moment for a phone for her because as soon as her friends had something newer or more flash she would then want a new one.
Calm down guys :snipe: I don't like the sight of blood.
Flip-phone with polytones and a colour screen...Kruger's T100????
OR...
Panasonic GD87 on Orange PAYG - £184.25

NOT FLIP PHONES BUT WORTH A LOOK
All from above site (and I don't work for them)
Sagem MYX6 - £104.95 (polytones, colour, camera)
Nokia 3100 - £104.95 (polytones, colour, no camera)
Nokia 3300 - £154.50 (polytones, colour, no camera, MP3 player)
Ericsson T610 - £154.50 (polytones, colour, camera)
That's my input anyway. There may be cheaper prices about but if she really wants a flip phone, maybe the GD87 at this price is worth a serious look.
Off to the pub now :glass: :glass: :glass: :glass: :glass:
i totaly agree bunny
my daughters are wanting new phones every year but there comes a point where you just have to say no!!!
i also dont like spending a lot on phones as my eldest doesnt look after heres very well, perhaps when shes buying her own she might......
as for the mms
well my girls are just txt crazy and thats all they care about.........lol and polytones of coarse, we top thier phones up every 3-4mnths as they are on pay as you go and if it runs out it runs out they still have to wait untill the 3-4months are up before they get topped up again, i think that way it teaches them to be careful with money in a way.

Its a tricky situation, you might consider a contract woith a £ limit on it of whatever you want them to spend every month. Also you may wish to go with a company that can give you a live balance so day to day you know what has been spent, ie OneTel.
The bebfits here are that you end up spending no more every month, but get a phone for mennies year on year!!!
What you think?
thanks for your comments it may be worth looking into, but i cant realy see it costing us less than we pay out now on pay as you go, as we only spend about £40 a year on topping thier phones up and it has to last them not matter what, i dont agree with kids spending a fortune on texting pointless texts as they are most the time.......lol so we keep it to a strict top up time and amount so if they run out before next top up date its thier own doing, i think contract phones cost about £20 a month is that correct?
thanks anyway.....

thats correct, but the cheapest is around £14 a month, tho you hardly get anything in the way of calls and texts (T-Mobile 750 minutes, but only off peak to landlines and t-mobiles, plus 50 texts, which won't go that far in a month).
I think there should be "teenage" tarrifs, bout £10 a months and all of the 'offer' part goes towards the texts, not calls. Cant remember last time I called someone on my mobile.

Actually, the cheapest tariff is £4.99/month line rental.
The call rates are around half the price of PAYG, and Vodafone is classed as same network.
By adding increments of £5 on the line rental, you recieve inclusive minutes and texts.

Young teenagers and contracts.....hmmmm dont know about that, i thought my eldest daughter was really responsible with her phone untill i had found out she had given people her phone number on an internet gaming site and was recieving texts from a 'friend'. My fault totally for thinking i could trust her to be sensible, which i thought she would. A new sim card later and she is heavily monitored both on the internet and with her phone.
I know its not the same but i would not trust her with a contract untill she can prove to me she can be responsible, but thats just my own personal opinion and thankfully there are some responsible teenagers out there. I have learned my lesson and hopefully so has she.

What do you think is your best bet????
Is there any specific reason your daughter needs a colour screen or a flip phone, or indeed both????
If not there are a million and 1 phones to choose from till she can buy her own.

Yes, and also unstable, part-dealt through Singlepoint (Satan in their own right) and the selection of phones is less than desirable. Even the store I work for, The Link, have pulled out of selling them on the highstreet because of lack of interest. I think in the six months or so when we had them, we must have sold about 10 at the most.

I thought the Link deal was ok as it included the line rental.
As i worked for the OneTel Mobile sales team from say one (24/06/02), if oyu bought from us directly, we had a lot more discretion re: discounts etc.
Any that way we billed you directly, itemised and for free, nowt to do with Singlepoint.

lol, that figures why you were trying to get him to get his daughter a OneTel then, does'nt it?
