Ok, so I have just moved out (yippee!) and don't have Internet access. I feel like my right hand has been chopped off. I need to find the cheapest any time access. I don’t have a landline as yet so it could be an all in one package.

Advise and suggestion greatly welcomed.

i'm not that knowledgeable on isp's, but I know that NTL/Telewest (or whatever their calling themselves now...) do a great deal on telephone, broadband and cable TV all in one monthly payment. Not sure how much it is tho...

ntl (if it`s in your area) is £10 for dial up(anytime) and 17.99 for 150k broadband and 24.99 for 600k broadband but you have to take the phone line which is 10.99 i think

I wouldn't advise cable. If you go with Bt, and pay them the basic line rental, £9 per month, you can have your calls a lot cheaper through another company, eg OneTel, and choose from loads of ISP's for internet access. Cable broadband isn't contended, so can get slower than dial up at busy times.

Pipex is £23 per month inc VAT for full 512kbps speed.

If you want dial-up, OneTel, at http:www.onetel.co.uk, have inclusive packages for different hours, saving you money. Have a look.

If you have any other specific requirements re services of hardware or technical stuff, let me know. Its an old area of expertise.

Thank you, that’s great. I'm afraid that it needs to be accessible all the time as my flat mate is a Mature Student and so needs access during the weekday, where as I’m at work and would only use it evenings and weekends. I'll have a look at the web site and compare them to BT. I’ll let you what I decide and then you can tell me what you think.

I'll second or third BT never any probs...NTL or NTHell as there well known for was a real pain if you ever had a problem customer service is not their strong point.

I'd advise going with an ISP that uses BT lines...I've seen as low as £15 per month 512k download. :)

I don't know if you're talking about a certain country but in Ireland i use Eircom broadband.
It's 54 E /month with 4Gb transfer data. -free instalation, free modem, first month free.
the statitics website is not working since 1 month ago.

I'm also on the lookout for a new ISP.
We are having our local exchange upgraded to broadband at the end of this week.

I've looked around, and I'm favouring going with pipex at the moment.
They have a good start up deal of around £18, which includes the modem and pay the connection fee to BT for you.

Cost is £19.95 +vat per month.

Hi,

I was on AOL earlier, on freeserve now, and i think freeserve's better than AOL in terms of the speed that i get.

sorry to change the subject but does anyone know how I can use my new 02X1 phone when I have an orange sim - by the way i use Tiscali as my Isp and its very reliable and its only £15.99 for mid Broadband which is perfect for the home user.

It would be best to place a post under the 'other mobiles forum', I believe there is a discussion already going on about unlocking this phone.
