View Full Version : 2 phone numbers
Is it possible to have two phone numbers on one phone using the same SIM card from the same SP at the same time?
Thanks! :)
I dont believe it can be done, each SIM is specific to the number thats why there a lot of dual sim holders available....I'm not 100% but I dont believe so.

well, your wrong and right at the same time.
As a straight off rule, you cant have two sim cards with two numbers active in one phone at the SAME time, but you can have two sim cards with two numbers that take it in turns to be active. This can be done by buying a dual-sim cover that sits under the battery and plugs into your sim card slot, allowing you to plug two sim cards into the adapter. However, the major drawback is you can only have one sim activated at one time, so you have to turn the phone off and on again to change sim's, then again to change to the other sim again.
However, Orange (on contract) will allow to subscribe to something called Line 2, which basicly bills you for two line rentals for two numbers on one bill on one sim card on one phone. So it can be done, but in the UK this is the only service provider that lets you do this.
The other option is put the first sim card in (provided its on contract) and set up a call divert for All Voice Calls the number of the second sim card (can be any network, including '3', on pay as you go or contract). Then put the 2nd sim card in and leave it at that. So when someone calls sim card 1 it'll ring on sim card 2. I used to use this all the time when I had 2 phones and wanted to leave one at home. Theres one major flaw in this tho, it won't work with texts or anything other than voice calls, so if you want to recieve texts on both you'll either need to carry two phones or keep on sim in your wallet and the other in your phone (like i do now. i have an o2 pay and go in my wallet for emergencies).
So theres your options. Theres not really any other way to do it, so it'll have to be one of those.

update:
you don't need to switch off/on the phone to get the other sim to work when using a dual sim card holder in your phone.
typing in #3370# worked fine in my Nokia 5210 earlier, the phone would reset itself and come up with the sim that was not active before the reset.
I have a new phone now, but not a dual card holder so can't be sure with the new phones but typing the same thing comes up with: change active speech codec?
if someone has got this to work on new phones like 6610, 7250, let me know...
cheers
