Here's The Scoop
(Source: Financial Times) - Asian handset makers have grabbed the top slots for Christmas mobile phone sales in the UK, pushing the one time dominating giant Nokia Corporation into second place, the Financial Times reported. It quoted Dixons Group's retailer, The Link, as saying NEC's 616 handset was the most popular phone on pay-as-you go tariffs.
LG Electronics Inc captured the number one slot on contract tariffs with its 8120 folding videophone. But Nokia retained its market-leading position at the cheaper end of the market with around three of the five best-selling phones. At its peak, Nokia captured more than half of all mobile phone sales in Europe. Christmas is the strongest period for mobile phone sales in the UK, and the UK market is a leading indicator of trends in the rest of Europe
