Nokia 7210 Review

First Impressions

When I first saw the Nokia 7210 I was really impressed by the way it looked like. It was a business like phone with many different colors for the covers. Some of them were actually quite “coo” and “hip”. I bought my phone with the original turquoise and I also bought a “green grey” cover. Looking at the phone, the first thing you notice is the keypad. The keypad comes only in one color with all of the covers “a bit of a let down”. The keypad looks like a butterfly. The numbers are single keyed and the buttons on the edges have a completely different shape from the other buttons in the middle. Another thing that might catch your attention is the circular design on the back of the phone; this comes with all of the official covers. It’s a neat design that actually makes the phone look extremely different in a really good way. This phone came to us during the rise of the colored screens.

Sizes & Dimensions

Features

The phone has many features to keep you happy at all times, if you haven’t noticed yet, this phone was aimed towards 2 types of markets: late teens, and adults. Looking at the colors of the covers will automatically tell you that because you have all these prestigious colors and also on the other hand all these very “hip” colours. Converter II is found in this phone, it enables you to compare currencies (business phone). Also, you have an integrated radio in your 7210 but you will need a Nokia 7210 headset for it to work. I like this phone because its shape is just aerodynamic. It looks pretty handy and is just similar to a cool gadget.

Tiple Band

A really good thing about this phone is that it is triple band (tri-band) featuring EGSM 900, GSM 1800, and GSM 1900 networks in Europe, Africa, Asia, North, and South America. The bands will be switched automatically so you don’t have to change any settings when you go from one continent to another.

The Display

The screen is also revolutionizing. This phone came out during the whole uptake of colored screens. It was many peoples pick. The thing is, when you look at it now next to a 65,536 colored screen you can feel the big difference.

Games

The phone features 2 cool games, Bounce & Triple Pop. Bounce is the game that we all know as “that orange big (or therefore small) ball”. The game rotates around you making this ball move around some obstacles to reach the end of the level. Triple Pop on the other hand is more of a thinking game, balls made from different colours will launch towards you while you try to group the similar coloured ones together.

Memory

Talking about memory, we all need a phone book. Well you can save up to 300 entries (I don’t think anyone needs more than that). You can also have 150 text messages or 50 picture messages. In your calendar you can save up to 250 entries and only 30 entries in your to-do list. All of these share a memory that is 625 kB.

Personalisation

Personalizing this phone is not that bad compared to the phones that were before it. You can change your wallpaper and add custom ring tones to different groups of people. As mentioned above, you can change your outer cover. This is compared to the blank screen of the black and transparent phones. You also have the Hands free calling which was incredibly innovative.

Ringtones

The ring tones in this phone are also rather enjoyable. It features many polyphonic ring tones and monophonic ones. The ring tones are not all that clear but their volume can be turned up very high (its ear piercing!). The ring tones are quite diverse. You have all these different types of ring tones ranging from extremely fast and “dandy” to many elegant slow ones.

Messaging

Messaging in this phone are split into normal Text Messaging (SMS) and picture and file messaging (MMS). With the SMS you will be bale to send text that will be display in another person’s phone (we are relatively used to that). Using MMS, you will be able to send different files like pictures, recordings, and ring tones to other headsets that are compatible.

Battery & Battery Life

The battery is a BLD-3 720 mAh Li-Ion. You can have talking time from 2 – 5 hours. Using hands free calling you will be able to call for 1h 45m – to 3h 45m. The phone could stay on the battery in standby mode for 300h.

Summary

I personally love this phone because of all its qualities. You can do anything you want. The speaker while talking is very clear, the phones shape is splendid, and it has many things to keep you from purchasing another phone. (Radio, games, and application). I rate this phone a grand 7.5 out of 10. It’s the phone that I used for a year (but now I have a Nokia 3220). I would agree that this phone was one of the best when it was released also compared to many of the new and developed phones it could stand a chance alongside some of them.
